I have set up a couple of Squidoo Lenses for Local Nights Out now as you will probably know if you follow me on Twitter or Facebook. The first Lens is for London Theatre Tickets and the second is for Blood Brothers, the classic Willy Russell musical.
If you’re wondering what all this Squidoo and Lens business is about, Squidoo explain themselves as:
Squidoo is a hand-built collection of half a million pages built by people just like you.
Squidoo is about finding people when you care what they know instead of who they know.
And Squidoo raises big money for charity every single day by donating money from the ads and links you see on every page.
A “Lens” is what squidoo call their user created pages.
Now, the main purpose of this post is to say that as part of getting these (and future) lenses noticed I have added them to some social bookmarking sites using Social Marker. Social Marker is a very useful social bookmarking tool, that I have been using for some time, that helps to save a lot of time submitting to up to 48 social bookmarking services with the use of one bookmarking button.
Social Marker claim that you can submit your site or page to 48 social bookmarking sites in under 15 minutes. I always find that it takes me a bit longer than this (around 20 minutes) to submit to the 39 sites I use through the tool but it is definitely a great time saver. I should also say that when you click the Social Marker button the browser window then displays a Social Marker page with amongst other things some buttons on it to scroll through the chosen social bookmarking sites in one window.
Last night when I tried using it to submit the Squidoo Lenses I had some annoying problems that made the process take quite a bit longer than normal. After the usual process of opening the page to be submitted and hitting the Social Marker button on my browser’s toolbar, Social Marker would start loading up all the relevant sites and then just close and show me my original page. Sometimes I would manage to submit to a couple of sites before it happened, other times I thought it was because of the site I was submitting to at that moment in time.
After getting rather annoyed and because I will be building more Squidoo Lenses that I will want to submit through Social Marker I decided to select one social bookmarking site at a time to find out which one or ones were causing the problem. It turned out to be two out of the 39 that I was trying to use. The two were Tagza and My Link Vault. It’s very odd that Tagza is causing a problem because it seems to be built on the Pligg platform and there are other Pligg based sites that worked fine such as Dizzed and Ximmy.
I may contact Social Marker and see if this is a known problem but in the mean time I will not be submitting Squidoo Lenses to Tagza or My Link Vault.

This has been happening to me too, even if I use TAGZA by itself. What the hell!
