The second essential SEO component of optimizing your website for your specific keywords or key phrase is using those keywords in the body text of the page you are trying to optimize.
By body text I am referring to the text that is visible on your page to your website visitors. If you look at the top 10 sites on Google for any given search you will find that the number of times the keywords appear in the body text can vary quite a bit between different sites.
What is really important is to use the keywords in the correct English (or the language of your site), in the correct context, in proper sentences.
As a rough guided, when thinking about the number of times you mention the keywords it is best to think in percentage terms. On average try to aim for about a 5% mention of your keywords in the complete body text spread quite evenly throughout the page content. i.e if a paragraph is 100 words long use your keywords or keyphrase about 5 times in total. If you are optimizing for a two word search term you might mention the two words together once and then seperately mention word one twice and word two once. If your two words don’t seperate very easily then you could mention the two words together two or three times.
If you find through researching the top 10 sites on Google for the search term that you are trying to be competitive for that those sites all use a similar percentage of keywords in their body text then obviously you should take note and do the same.
