Return To Monkey Island

So, following on from my previous post about Sky, they haven’t completely done what I asked after all.

A couple of days ago I received two letters.

One letter saying that Sky were making some changes to contracts and that currently you could downgrade packages whenever you want as long as you had had them for at least one month but going forward there will be a 31 day notification period.

The second letter was to confirm my new package subscriptions and new charges. One of the monkeys added the Sky HD pack to my account as well as Sky+. At no time during any of the previous conversations did I say I wanted the HD pack. Quite the contrary, I said numerous times that I specifically did not want the HD pack and one time the Sky representative even voiced confirmation of that fact.

So yesterday I phoned them again and got passed all round different departments as usual.

The last time I got passed to someone else I was taken off hold by someone talking at me half way through a sentence. I then had to explain the situation to her again to be sure she knew what the issue was to which she said she “would just check with some…” on put me on hold.

She came back on the line in the middle of a sentence again saying that because I’m still in contract from October (which is in itself unexplainable because I don’t remember any reason why I would have renewed my contract since I moved here three and a half years ago) that she couldn’t take the HD pack off and I would have to write to them or email them via the contact form on their website.

It might be that they can’t take it off because I haven’t had the HD pack for a month. But, one, I didn’t ask for it and two, can’t is a strong word. Somewhere, somebody can. It’s just a computer system after all.

I emailed them through the website yesterday so lets wait and see what happens. I have a feeling it’s going to be fun.
