I haven’t been able to do any running over the past week because I somehow managed to hurt my knee last Tuesday.
I was on the treadmill and after about 18 minutes me left knee started hurting. After 20 minutes I had to stop as it was getting quite painful and I didn’t want to make it any worse than it already was.
Up until the weekend it cam and went. One day it would be fine and the next day it would be bad again. One of the days that it was fine in the morning I went out and had to walk down a hill which immediately made it bad again.
Since the weekend it has been fine so I am going to do a bit today which should be the first training day of week 2 but I’m only going to do about 10 minutes (if possible) and then do some cross training.
Yesterday I went to the Running Shoes shop in Paddington to get some new running trainers. They put you on a treadmill in a neutral pair of trainers and video your feet from behind to check your “gait”. My feet were rolling inwards and there was also a fair amount of twisting going on, particularly in the left leg, so that’s probably what’s injured my left knee.
After trying on half a dozen different trainers from different brands with more support I am now the proud owner of a pair of Adidas Supernova Sequence running trainers which give me the support I need.
